Art Studio Classes

Welcome to my art studio! It is a fun place for kids!   This is an art education and process art studio. (Not a paint party studio.) I offer special events, camps, homeschool, and after-school art classes.   I have a MA in Art Education & teaching art is my passion!  Read more about me here.

Due to COVID-19 there are changes to my studio classes & policies.  Please read the policies below before registering for a class.  If you register for a class, then you agree that you have read and agree with the policies. 

Classes are semester based and payment for the entire semester will be due 2 weeks prior to classes beginning. (You are paying the supply fee at registration so that I can start purchasing materials for the classes.)  More information about payment is listed in the policies. 

Classes start the 2nd week in August and meet weekly through the 3rd week of November except for Labor Day for my Monday classes and the week of October 5th for the other classes. (I do have a couple of homeschool classes that meet every other week, so be sure to check those dates.)

Click on the class below to see the class dates & times.  (Ages are only recommendations. If you have more than one child and they need to be together, please contact me to discuss the best class for them if age is an issue.)

Mini-Artist's - This is a highly creative process art class for ages 4 through 3rd grade.  We explore a variety of materials during the course of a school year.  We focus less on techniques and more on the creative side of being an artist.  This is so important at this age!  Art is all about the process for the little ones!  They will have a blast being free to create!

Intermediate Artists-  This class is for ages 4th - 6th grade. In this class we will continue to explore the processes of art and challenge our creativity, but we will also start developing various techniques using a variety of media during the course of a school year.  I love watching this age take that next step! 

Advanced Artists-  This class is designed for 7th-9th grade.  Don't let the "advanced" title mislead you.  No experience required! This class will be more challenging and will focus more on developing techniques and diving deeper into what it means to create art. They will have a lot of freedom within their work to develop their own style. We will even have some "open studio" type projects where they have freedom in choice of media as well. I will hone in on your chid's gifts, but challenge them at the same time to step out of their comfort zone and try new things! 

Specialty Classes-  These are 4 week Mini-Classes on a particular topic. These classes will explore a particular art technique.  It is much like an "art camp" yet spread out over the course of 4 weeks.  These will be posted throughout the year and great for those that can't make a semester commitment due to sports or other conflicts. 

Due to Covid-19 studio policies have changed.  And, they could change again based on the recommendations given to businesses.  But, as of now this is how I plan to hold classes as normal & safely as possible.

Safety Information

  • Please do not send your child to art class if they are sick, have been around anyone sick, or have symptoms of COVID-19.  No coughs.  No fevers.  The safety of your children is of utmost importance to me. 
  • Temperatures will be taken at the beginning of each class. Class enrollment will start at 10 kids per class. This could possibly be increased before the semester begins at my discretion.  
  • You will be required to sign a Liability Waiver and a Covid-19 waiver for your child to attend art classes. 
  • Students will be six feet apart at individual tables.  They will be assigned a table cloth that will become theirs to use each week.
  •  If I were to become sick, either a credit will be issued to be used the following semester or for summer camp, or the missed classes will be made up. (Let's hope this doesn't happen :))
  • Masks will not be required for children unless this is mandated by Gibson County or Humboldt City.  However, your child is free to wear a mask if this makes them more comfortable.
  • If your child is sick, you are allowed to makeup two missed art classes during the semester by attending another class as makeup or by attending a scheduled makeup day. You will need to schedule this makeup with me. More than two missed classes can not be made up.  If I am bound to the 10 kids per class, then makeups will have to be made on the makeup day rather than attending another class due to space limitations.  
  • We will start the semester with one parent coming in the waiting room at a time to check-in & out.  In the past my studio has been a welcome place for parents, but during the pandemic, I want to keep the studio for kids only.  Your children will be brought outside to you at the end of class.  This could change, but it is working well with camp this summer.  
  • To attend art class you will need to sign a COVID liability release. 

Payment and Class information

Classes will begin the 2ndweek of August and continue through the 3rdweek in November with the exception being Labor Day for Monday classes and the week of October 5th for the other classes.   We will not meet from Thanksgiving through December.  The second semester will resume in January if your child wishes to continue.  The majority of my student stay for the entire school year in order to take advantage of all of the variety of media used in the art studio. 

  • The fee for Semester Classes is $260 plus the $35 supply fee
  • The fee for every-other-week classes is $140 plus the $25 supply fee
  • The non-refundable supply fee must be paid for the semester upon enrollment to the class. This is the fee you are paying at registration.  This fee will include taxes.  The final payment is for my services and will not include taxes. The supply fee is paid ONCE per semester. So, if you register again in January, this supply fee will be paid for that semester.
  • Payment for the entire semester is due 2 weeks before class starts. If you decide not to start the semester, your payment can be refunded if I am able to fill your spot from the waitlist. Refunds are not given at any time, for any reason, once the semester has started UNLESS your spot is filled from the waitlist. If I am able to fill your spot, I can refund you your remaining balance.  There is a good chance I can fill your spot, but I can't promise that the spot will be filled and that a refund will be given.
  •  If COVID-19 guidelines require that my studio to be closed at any time during the semester, classes will move virtually and you will receive a supply kit at no extra charge.  It is my preference to keep the studio open and the studio experience as normal as possible.  But, if regulations beyond my control are enforced, or if safety becomes an issue, I will move them online.   Refunds will not be given for COVID-19 closures.
